Market Opportunity

We are doing more with our mobile devices than ever before, and battery innovation has stalled. People need a convenient place to charge their devices.

Retail, entertainment, hospitality venues want to provide their customers with power amenities beyond simple electrical sockets that are cost-effective and easy to use.  

 

Initial Learnings from Customers

  • 70% of consumers charge their mobile devices at least once per day.

  • 83% of people would use public charging services if it was easily available

  • 2.07 average number of devices per hotel guest 77% of hotel guests think a public charging service would improve their overall experience

  • 86% of restaurant goers said they would increase the amount of time they spend at the venue

  • Starbucks have confirmed that wireless charging has boosted sales

Existing Installation Challenges

  • 18 minutes = Installation time per charging spot

  • $240 = Cost to install per charging spot
    (excl. hardware costs)

  • Installers lack the training to properly troubleshoot
    if necessary

  • Installers do not have a method of configuring and troubleshooting during installation

  • Chargifi's Operations Staff must be present at all installations (cost of this is unavailable)

 

Discovering the Needs of Installers

A lot of the feedback coming from installers reinforced Chargifi's existing installation challenges displayed earlier. Interviews were very helpful in understanding not just what they needed, but emphasized their time management and efficiency. Below are a couple key points taken from the 10 interviews gathered from exisitng service partners.

Key Learnings from Installer Interviews

  • They expect the configuration process to work with little to no troubleshooting

  • Currently, there is no way for installers to understand whether they have a faulty charging unit

  • All the installers interviewed said there is a process in place for mapping out a venue and the order in which they install everything

  • There is no official process for Chargifi to onboard installers (this came up frequently)

  • Most installers do not have a tech background, so forcing software into their workflow may be challenging for certain service providers

Existing Flow for an Installation

Venue site survey is performed with Chargifi operations employee for approval

Pending approval, the venue customer schedules
an installation

Chargifi Operations team schedules installation and creates the charging spots manually on their web platform in order for configuration to occur on day
of installation

On installation day, Chargifi transports (or ships) all charging hardware and meets the service provider at
the venue for a walk through, and to mitigate any issues during installation.

What Are We Solving For?

  1. Optimize the workflow from Chargifi to Customer to Installer
  2. Operations and UX to write a brief 'How to Install Chargifi" Guide as a foundational element to align to
  3. Optimize the data entry for Chargifi's web platform once installation is scheduled
  4. Create an Installer App that is more efficient and user friendly
